These terms govern your use of civicognita.com. By using the site, you agree to them. They are intentionally short and written to be read.
By accessing or using civicognita.com (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site.
Civicognita is a non-profit organization that stewards the Impactivism movement — a movement for socially conscious capitalism in which measurable impact, not profit, is the primary unit of economic value. This Site is informational: it explains the movement, its principles, and the Civic Commons. It is not a product, a financial service, or an offer or solicitation of any kind.
You may read, share, and reference the material here for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse the Site — for example, by attempting to disrupt or overload it, gain unauthorized access, scrape it in a way that burdens our infrastructure, or use it to break the law or infringe the rights of others.
The content on this Site — text, design, graphics, logos, and the Civicognita name and marks — is owned by Civicognita or its contributors and is protected by applicable law. Where materials are published under an open license (for example, in our repositories on GitHub), that license governs their use. Otherwise, you may not reproduce or redistribute substantial portions without permission. Referencing and linking to us is always welcome.
Parts of the movement live on external platforms, including our Discord community and our code on GitHub. Those services are operated by third parties and carry their own terms and conduct rules, which apply when you use them. We are not responsible for third-party platforms or their content.
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. The movement and its supporting projects are under active development, and information here may change or be incomplete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Civicognita and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. Your use of the Site is at your own risk.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms. As a pre-launch draft, these Terms will be reviewed before public launch.
These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which Civicognita operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The specific governing jurisdiction will be confirmed when these Terms are finalized.
